"The Best Care For Your Best Friend."
This cat was presented with a history of difficulty swallowing. Upon closer inspection of the oral cavity, a nickel-sized mass was found protruding from the palate.
The mass was carefully dissected from the palate until it was totally exposed.
It was then removed.
Histopathology (biopsy) revealed the mass to be lymphosarcoma. This is an uncommon site for this type of tumor. More commonly, lymphosarcoma occurs in the lymph nodes, GI tract, or skin. The long-term prognosis for animals with lymphosarcoma is typically poor. However, there are more aggressive and less aggressive forms of this type of cancer. The cat was doing fine following surgery. After one year, the tumor had not returned.
