HAVE A HEART BUILD A DREAM!

Have A Heart Build A Dream is a campaign to help raise funds to build a new animal shelter for McDonough County.  The original Rocky on Parade dog for 2013 that has been housed at All Pets was in desperate need of a repair and repainting.  Dr. Blakeley decided to redo Rocky with a design that could be used for this very special purpose.  Rocky is now covered with hundreds of hearts in various colors.  Each is hand drawn, placed, colored, and painted and yes they are imperfect--just like our pets!  For a donation to the shelter fund each heart can be personalized with the name of your favorite pet(s).  When complete, Rocky will be donated and placed at the new building.  Check out the video to the right and check our our updated progress on facebook:  Have A Heart Build A Dream

WHY DO WE NEED A NEW SHELTER?

The shelter is over 40 years old and is getting to the point of no-return.  It was built in the 1980s and has serious infrastructural problems and drainage issues.  The kennels are old and in disrepair.  Space is limited and does not have specific areas for isolation, staff, and prospective adopters.  The county HAS tried to repair these issues over and over again but the fact is, it is just time for the building to be replaced.

Plans for the new building include:  Indoor dog kennels with outdoor runs, cat free-roam room and cat condos, a private area for adopters to meet the cats and dogs, intake, quarantine, and isolations areas with efficient HVAC systems, animal drop off kennels connected to the building to prevent animal escapes and protect the staff, an all purpose room for staff, education, and training, ADA compliant accessibility, and parking for visitors and volunteers.

A building with these specifications is going to require a collaboration of public and private funds.  The county has some money designated for this project but it is going to take private funds to bring the project to completion.  And that is where YOU come in.

HOW TO GET A HEART FOR YOUR PET:

  1. Stop by or call the clinic.  You can leave a cash, check, or credit card donation and fill out a card with name(s) you would like on Rocky.  100% of this money will go to the shelter building fund.  (All Pets will pay the credit card processing fees so your FULL donation goes to the fund.)
  2. Go to GoFundMe and search for Have A Heart Build A Dream.  You can leave your donation here as well.  Please make sure you tell us what name(s) either by leaving a note of encouragement with the information, calling the clinic, or posting it in comments on our facebook page.  The QR code on our flyers will take you to this page.  (GoFundMe does deduct the credit card processing fee so a small amount of your donation will unfortunately go to GoFundMe but the money is directly transferred to the shelter fund.)

**Suggested donation:  $50 per name.  $100 per name and you can pick the color and the general location on the Rocky.  (Feel free to donate more!)
